Market Guide 2026: How to Choose a Networking Supplier in the Middle East, Africa and CIS
Choosing a networking supplier used to be simple: pick a well-known brand and pay the price. In 2026 that is no longer enough. Project owners across the GCC, Africa and the CIS tell us the same thing: delays, missing spare parts and slow warranty claims cost more than the equipment itself. Navijin Research has published a free Market Guide 2026 to help IT leaders, consultants and system integrators compare suppliers objectively.

Five key findings
- Total cost of ownership outweighs list price. Lead time, local stock, warranty handling and support quality now decide most projects.
- The access layer carries more load than ever. IP cameras, Wi-Fi 6/7 access points, IP phones and IoT sensors all draw power and bandwidth from the edge switch, so PoE budget and uplink speed are the first design constraints.
- Wi-Fi 7 is entering tenders. Sites refreshing wireless in 2026–2027 should plan for 2.5G switch ports and Wi-Fi 7-ready cabling.
- Security is a buying criterion. 802.1X, VLAN segmentation, secure management and verifiable serial numbers are standard requirements in banking, government, healthcare and energy.
- Regional brands with local presence are gaining share. Buyers value in-region stock, local-language support and fast replacement.
The eight evaluation criteria
The guide recommends scoring every supplier from 1 to 5 on eight weighted criteria:
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Product fit and performance | 20% |
| Total cost of ownership | 15% |
| Local availability and lead time | 15% |
| Warranty and RMA | 15% |
| Technical support and skills | 10% |
| Security and compliance | 10% |
| Management and scalability | 10% |
| Partner ecosystem | 5% |
Three types of supplier
Instead of ranking brands, the guide groups suppliers by how they serve the region: global premium brands (broadest portfolio, highest cost and licences), global value brands (low price, limited enterprise support) and regional brands with local presence (local stock, fast replacement and direct engineer access). Most successful projects combine them: premium platforms where they are truly needed, and a strong regional brand for access, PoE, wireless, CCTV, voice and industrial edge.
